Meet your Localdost - Anindya Biswas
Discovering something new has always been at the heart of our journey together. Sometimes it was discovering a new place while travelling and sometimes it was discovering a new rhythm of life while living in the mountains. That curiosity is what led us to travel beyond the usual routes and create offbeat experiences through our work in the travel space. It also brought us closer to the people of this region, learning from them and working with indigenous knowledge while shaping the food and the spaces here. Even today, that spirit of exploration continues to guide us. We find ourselves learning about the benefits of local plants, experimenting with new spices and wandering along new paths in these hills. For us, this place is not just about staying in the mountains. It is about helping people explore this beautiful valley of Kumaon a little deeper. Everything we do here is designed around that idea.

0 Trees
0 Buckets Water
0% Less CO2
This is possible because our local dost (Anindya Biswas) has made sure that the property fulfils the following Eco-Sustainable travel criteria:
This property scores 4.0/5 on MylocalDost’s Sustainable Criteria — a reflection of its commitment to conscious living. From supporting local livelihoods to protecting nature, every choice here is creating real, lasting impact. Here’s How:
Supports Local Communities & Cultures
At Paathar Home, our roots are deeply intertwined with the village of Naula. Over half of our menu features indigenous Kumaoni recipes, using grains grown locally on the land and milk sourced straight from the village. Beyond the food, our property is a proud guardian of documented local heritage and traditional crafts. When you stay with us, you aren’t just a guest; you become part of a community where anyone you meet on a guided walk might invite you into their home for a cup of tea.
Green Environment & Biodiversity Conservation
Our Paathar Home is a sanctuary for your nervous system. By utilizing true biophilic design, our Home blends seamlessly into the oak forests and terraced terrain. This lack of visual disruption lowers cortisol levels, allowing your mind to rest naturally. We preserve the landscape so that the landscape can preserve you.
Air & Water Quality
At this altitude, every breath you take is a therapeutic intake of crisp, unpolluted mountain air. To hydrate you optimally, we protect our local watershed through rainwater harvesting and recharge pits, ensuring that the water you consume and bathe in remains as pure and mineral-rich as nature intended.
Waste Management
A clear environment fosters a clear mind. We practice mindful consumption and actively compost our organic waste to return nutrients directly to the soil. By eliminating unnecessary packaging and food miles, we keep the energy of our retreat clean, ensuring your healing environment remains pristine and regenerative.
Temperature & Energy Management
Our traditional stone and mud construction provides a grounding thermal comfort that artificial heating simply cannot match. By relying on natural earth insulation to regulate temperatures, your body avoids the drying effects of heavy ACs and heaters, allowing your skin and respiratory system to truly relax and repair.
Travel & Transportation
We encourage you to treat your arrival as the beginning of a digital detox. Opting for a slow, scenic train journey and completing your transit to Naula via local routes acts as a physical decompression. Once here, you'll travel primarily on foot, turning every walk into an active, grounding meditation.
Food & Guest Experience
Your time here is designed for profound psychological restoration. From guided nature walks that reconnect you to the earth, to quiet picnic lunches and evenings spent stargazing by a bonfire, the experience strips away everyday anxieties and replaces them with space, silence, and genuine human warmth.
Education on Sustainable Living
Our Paathar Home is built using the local vernacular style; crafted from regional stone, mud, and wood. This is more than just aesthetics; it is a profound commitment to preserving Kumaoni architectural heritage. These restored structures breathe with the seasons and provide a grounding, earth-connected shelter that modern concrete buildings simply cannot replicate.
