Launched on International Women's Day, our place is operated exclusively by women of the Matholi village. It’s an epitome of rural tourism in Himalayas where the true charm of this place is found in its cozy mud rooms, so beautifully crafted that you’d never guess they were once renovated cowsheds. Each room reflects the timeless traditions of Garhwal, built using natural materials like stone, mud, and wood—offering a warm, authentic stay that connects you to the roots of the region’s heritage.
With the Himalayas and the Bhagirathi River as companions, experience untouched treks revealing peaks like Swargarohini and Bandarpunch. Beyond traditional meals, camping, and village tours, explore the Kandak and Jagdehi treks offering panoramic views of the region's highest peaks. Meet Pradeep Panwar, a seasoned mountaineer and instructor from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. Harnessing his extensive expertise in agro-tourism, he embarked on a remarkable journey in Matholi village, empowering local women to establish and manage a thriving homestay program. In the midst of the pandemic, he ingeniously transformed cowsheds into charming homestays and personally trained women in the hospitality field, resulting in the warm welcome of over 500 delighted tourists. Beyond being an expert guide, Pradeep ji passionately crafts immersive experiences, unveiling the enchanting beauty and timeless traditions of Uttarakhand.

Matholi is 110 kms from Dehradun/Rishikesh, with a scenic journey that ends with a short 150 m trek to the homestay. Till Dehradun one can reach via bus/train/flight. From Dehradun/Rishikesh, the details are shared below.
- Private Cabs: Private cabs are available and need to be pre-booked from Dehradun/Rishikesh to Matholi.
- Shared Cabs: From Dehradun/Rishikesh, one can get a shared taxi to Uttarkashi/Chinyalisour (3.5 hours). Once you reach Chinyalisour, we will arrange a pick for you. We re further 20 mins drive from there.
- By State Bus: Direct buses from Dehradun’s Parade Ground/Natraj Chowk, Rishikesh to Uttarkashi available till 1:00 PM. Hop off at Chinyalisour and from there we will arrange your pickup to Matholi.
- Accessibility: The homestay is a 150-meter hike from the parking area, offering a gentle start to your immersive experience in nature.
- No Loud music: Loud music isn’t appreciated to maintain the sanctity of the place and protect local flora and fauna. Soft, soothing music is welcome.
- Nature's guests: If you spot insects, please relax — they are harmless. Let us know, and we’ll gently escort them back to nature.
- Dietary Preferance: Our kitchen celebrates tradition with locally sourced produce, pahadi chutney, fresh fruits, and wholesome meals — a soulful detox from continental or oriental fare. If you have any allergies or dietary preferences, please inform us in advance so we can accommodate you with care.
- 30 days before the arrival: Full refund.
- 15-30 Days before the arrival: 50% cancellation charges of the total cost.
- 7-15 Days before the arrival: 75% cancellation charges of the total cost.
- 0-7 Days: 100% cancellation charges.

We welcome pets at our property. Please go through the following pet policy:
- Each pet is charged 500 for the entire stay (irrespective of no of days stay)
- Pets must be vaccinated.
- Pet’s toilet habits to be hygienically and socially monitored.
- Guests will not leave their pets unattended on property nor lock them alone in rooms.
- Guests please ensure your loved pets do not get on beds.
- Guests may carry their dog beds. So pet is comfortable on the floor.
- Please don’t leave your pets open and must be leashed during the night time for pet’s safety.
- Any damage caused by the pet at the property must be borne by the pet owner.
