Local Dost - Ravindra Rawat
Vastly experienced professional in the field of hospitality, Ravindra started a homestay program in his village to bring livelihood for his people. Ravindra is a passionate runner and has completed many marathons including 300 kms Ranikhet-Kedarnath Ultra run. He loves to host wandering travellers and share explicit travel stories with them especially on a jungle walk. He is a true local dost who ensures that guests just don't visit his place but live it.
The two floored home has six bed rooms with attached bathrooms, each furnished simply yet tastefully. Each room has its own sit out that either overlooks the mountain or the forest range. The house has a big open terrace, a common sitting room, kitchen and dining space, and a small collection of books. Use of large windows has ensured enough natural light coming in, thus low energy consumption.
You can engage in the following activities to get the most out of the place and live it like a local.
Fishing – The Ramganga river is a fishing paradise. We will guide you to the best spots for fishing and also assist you in case you are a novice.
Jungle Walk to Remember– Trust us, it will be a walk of your life. Taking untrodden path, facing the coolest of breeze, witnessing wildlife, watching the Sun go down sitting on the rocks, you will love every moment of the walk.
River Spa – This nature’s spa gives you immense tranquility and thrill at the same time. The shallow river ensures that you can sit or lie right in the middle of the river bed and just chill.
Bird Watching – With over more than 700 bird species, Manila is a birder’s delight. Manila has also witnessed surge in Foreign Tourist Arrivals specially for bird-watching.
The following are the measures that the local dost has adopted to ensure tourism does not impact the place and boost Responsible Tourism.
100% local staff – Empowering rural lives by giving them the opportunity to host travellers and earn a living directly.
Rainwater Collection – The host has a rainwater harvesting setup in place to reduce demand on ground water, flooding and erosion.
Waste Management – One needs to dispose plastic in the dustbins available in the premises and need to take back the waste in case of bulk plastic waste. Bio-waste is taken care by the local dost for the purpose of farming.
Green Building – Accommodation is made from locally sourced materials and represents the traditional architecture of the place. This ensures minimum impact to the environment and keeping alive the traditional architecture.
Energy Efficient Lights – Accommodation is equipped with energy efficient lights to ensure minimum load on the power grid.
